Working NotesUniquely among her siblings, Frances Ward is not named in her father's Will of 1799, though apparently named ("my granddaughter, Fanny Ward") in 1785 Will of her grandfather, William Darwin.
See the Henderson Conundrum, however: there is another "Fanny Word", mentioned in the Will of Thomas Henderson (who migrated from Louisa to South Carolina), with a sister named who inherited from "her grandfather Durvin's estate"

Identification of "Fanny Ward" with this Frances Ward is probable but not entirely certain.
