    Text Private John Darwin, listed herein as John Darvin appears as entry Number 22 on Page 2, below. In fact, his 2-year enlistment had expired on 3 February 1778 and he had already received his discharge by the final date of this document. We now think the "detachment" referred to herein is related to David Bullock's account of John Darwin engaged driving cattle for the army, as only apparently relevant section of the Journals of the Continental Congress for 16 February 1776 states:

    That reasonable wages and proper rations be allowed to all persons employed by the Commissary Gen.l and Quarter master Gen.l and that the said commissioners report to Congress what in their opinion would be proper to allow to each person.
