    In the name of God Amen. I William Ward of the County of Louisa being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory blessed be to God and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die I on this 6th day of April 1799 make and publish this my last Will & Testament in manner following that is to say I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as to the worldly estate that it hath pleased God to bless me with; I dispose of as followeth:

    I give to my beloved wife Agness Ward one chest, one pot, one dutch oven and one feather bed.

    Item. I lend to my beloved wife all the balance of my estate both real & personal during her natural life.

    Item. I give to my beloved son John Ward all my stock of sheep.

    Item. I give to my beloved daughter Ceiley Ward my young mare, one cow and one feather bed.

    Item. I give to my beloved daughters Jane Thacker, Ann Armstrong, Sary Tate, Keziah Tate, Agness Foster, Elizabeth Waldrop, and Peggy Ryon all the balance of my estate both real & personal which has not been above given and to be equally divided between them at the death of my beloved wife and it is my will & desire that if my beloved daughter Ceiley Ward should die without an heir that the above mentioned property should be equally divided between all my above mentioned daughter.

    Item. I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Agness Ward Executrix and my beloved son John Ward Executor to this my last Will & Testament in Witness whereof I the said William Ward have this day to my last Will & Testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
